Science is the study of reason. Simply put, if you can ask "why", "when", "what" or "how", then mostly science comes to play.
There are many sciences. There are sciences for studying the earth, the seas, the wind, space, and also for living things.
The science of living things is called Biology.
The world is made of living and the non-living. There are important differences between living things and non-living things.
1. Living things eat. Non-living things do not eat.
2. Living things breathe. Non-living things do not breathe.
3. Living things produce young ones. This is called reproduction. Non-living things do not reproduce.
Exercise for the section:
Identify 5 living things and 5 non-living things in your backyard.
Learn their names. Describe why they are living or non-living.
